High blood pressure and high cholesterol are independent of each and really do not have much to do with each other. It is possible to have one without the other. Some people have both but usually they are not related to the same underlying cause(s).

Not necessarily so! That is a great blood pressure but it is still important to watch the cholesterol. LDL is the bad one. HDL is the good cholesterol.

Generally, a high blood pressure would be more indicative of a high cholesterol problem. However, it is possible to have a blood pressure within normal limits and still have elevated cholesterol levels. If he’s over 40 or has a strong family history of heart disease, it might be a good idea to get a checkup though.

I have normal BP but high cholesterol, and I’m only 28 – no health problems, not overweight.
The two are completely unrelated.

blood pressure and serum cholesterol are two entirely different things regulated by entirely different internal body mechanisms. along with many other things both are risk factors for the development of heart disease and the risk posed by one risk factor is not diminished by the absence of another.

Absolutely you can have high blood pressure w/out high cholesterol. I have high blood pressure and great cholesterol. As long as he takes the medication to lower it he should be fine, but make sure to get regular blood work and monitor the blood pressure.
