Heart Health Assessment
Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans—nearly 2,400 die of heart disease each day, an average of one
death every 37 seconds. On a yearly basis, it claims as many lives as all forms of cancer combined. Heart disease
develops from risk factors such as high blood pressure, sleep disorders, diabetes or high cholesterol that over time
can result in coronary artery disease, heart attack, heart failure or stroke.
With the right information, you can uncover your personal risk factors, monitor them and take action to reverse them. By controlling those risk factors, you significantly reduce the likelihood of heart disease, a heart attack or stroke. Our HeartCaring program can assess your heart health and help you identify these risks.
Call 303.440.2095 for reservations and more information. Take the first step to a healthy heart.
Affordable Health Screenings
Our HeartCaring program consists of a package of eight painless screenings that look at everything from the blood flow in your carotid and aortic arteries to your bone density and cholesterol level.
Specifically, the HeartCaring screenings look for major health risks including:
Plaque build up in the carotid arteries, a primary cause of stroke.
Aneurysm (weakness) in the abdominal aorta, the largest artery in the body; a rupture can be fatal
Hardening of the arteries,
which increases the risk of heart disease
Osteoporosis, a gradual thinning and weakening of the bones, that can lead to fractures and lifelong disability
Diabetes, which if uncontrolled, can increase your risk of heart disease, blindness, nerve damage and kidney damage. At least 65 percent of people with diabetes die of some form of heart disease or stroke.
Our HeartCaring screening program includes the following services:
Ultrasound measurement of blood flow in carotid arteries
Lipid Panel (cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides)
Ultrasound of the aortic artery
Blood pressure test for hardening of the arteries (ankle brachial index)
Lung function test (spirometry)
Glucose test for blood sugar level
Body mass index
Heel scan test for bone density
Written test to identify the level of daytime sleepiness, an indicator of possible sleep disorders (Epworth Scale)
Additionally, each participant gets a private meeting with an experienced registered nurse to review the results and discuss what follow-up actions may be needed.
These screenings are available in the Imaging Department of Foothills Hospital and last approximately 90 minutes.
This comprehensive package costs just $140, which is payable by check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or
American Express.

Each year more than a million people in the United States suffer from a heart attack and half of them will die.
A heart attack occurs when one or more of the arteries supplying your heart muscle with blood and oxygen is blocked, usually by a blood clot in a coronary artery. A coronary artery over time can also become narrow from the build up of fatty deposits or plaque. The interrupted blood flow to the heart muscle can damage or destroy a part of the heart muscle.
If you experience a heart attack, it could be a life-threatening event. You and your family should know the warning signs of a heart attack and how to get medical help. Each year more than a million people in the United States suffer from a heart attack and half of them will die.
Signs and Symptoms of a Heart Attack Can Include:
Chest discomfort that has a feeling of pressure, fullness or squeezing pain in the center of the chest that can last more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back.
Discomfort, pain or numbness extending beyond your chest to one or both arms, the neck, jaw, back or stomach.
Heartburn or abdominal pain.
Shortness of breath.
Sweating, fainting or nausea and vomiting.
Anxiety, nervousness and/or cold sweaty skin.
Dizziness or lightheadedness.
Skin that is clammy.
Pale skin.
Unexplainable fatigue.
